Kimberly-Clark Deploys RFID Software from SAP & OATSystems

Results in Standard Product Interfaces between SAP and OAT

DALLAS, Texas, WALLDORF, Germany, WALTHAM, Mass. – June 8, 2005 – Kimberly-Clark, SAP and OATSystems®, Inc. today announced that the Kimberly-Clark Corporation has initially deployed the 1st standardized interfaces between SAP AII (Auto-ID Infrastructure) and the OAT Foundation Suite. Together, SAP and OAT will provide a complete RFID infrastructure that provides best-of-breed RFID functionality and fully leverages existing investments in SAP. The standardized interfaces are fully supported by both SAP and OAT to minimize the total cost of ownership (TCO) and optimize RFID integration for joint customers.

Kimberly-Clark led the effort to develop a standardized RFID infrastructure. Working closely with SAP and OAT, Kimberly-Clark helped design the appropriate interfaces between SAP AII and the OAT Foundation Suite. SAP and OAT continued the collaborative effort to develop the most appropriate interfaces to support broad market needs.

“We have been impressed by the level of collaboration between SAP and OAT,” said Mike O’Shea, Director, Auto-ID Sensing Technology, Kimberly-Clark. “The resulting interfaces enable us to standardize our RFID infrastructure with the two leaders in the market, minimize our cost of ownership and improve our RFID business integration capabilities. We are pleased to help shape this joint SAP-OAT offering and hope other companies will find it as valuable as we do.”

“This is another great example of market-leading solutions we have developed during our long-standing relationship with Kimberly-Clark,” said Amar Singh, Vice President of Global RFID and Business Development, SAP. “The resulting SAP-OAT offering is unique in the market and is fully supported by SAP, said Dave Marzouk, Solution Director, RFID, SAP.

"Kimberly-Clark’s role in the interface development between SAP and OAT is another example of Kimberly-Clark’s continued leadership in RFID," said Prasad Putta, CEO of OATSystems. “Not only does this deliver lower TCO for Kimberly-Clark but by standardizing the interfaces this same solution is available to all interested SAP customers.”
